We've been telling you for years that you guys are the problem.  Now the "expert" weighs in:

(O.K.  I'm not really into man-bashing, but it is an entertaining sport. At least participants tend not to rent party boats and ask for multi-million dollar stadiums.)

Women Hail Menstruation Ruling

From Kathmandu, Nepal:

There is a tradition in parts of Nepal of keeping women in cow-sheds during their period......The Supreme Court has ordered the government to declare the practice as evil and given it one month to begin stamping the practice out.......

Pushpa Bhusal, a leading lawyer, said it was a positive move in removing the traditional discrimination against women.

She warned however, that a change in the law alone would not be enough........

Women in poor villages in much of western Nepal are forced to stay in dirty cow-sheds outside the home for four days during their monthly period.

They are often given unhygienic food and suffer verbal abuse.

Though I don't consider myself as a feminist in the political sense of today, I'm going to have to go with the lawyer on this one.  This change in the law is not enough.  When the M.A.W.B. achieves world domination, I propose we give the Nepalese women the authority to send their husbands to the cow-shed when it's that time of the month.

Imagine the adventure travelers we could book if we include a stop at the cow-shed with an opportunity to verbally abuse them.  Special this month:  Nepal PMS tour:  4 days/3 nights.  Think what it could do for the local economy.  We'll sell T-shirts that say, "Nepal - Where Payback is Quality Time with Bessie!"

Update 09/16/05:  Welcome Norwegianity readers!  Just a note on my "notorious silence".  Could it be that I was commenting on the news article linked above, that in no way addresses that issue?  You think? 

Though I admit I'm perplexed at the insistence that it's a fundamental right to kill our children.  I mean, none of them got here by immaculate conception right?  (Well there was that one time, if you believe in that sort of thing.)   So, wasn't there a choice prior to the choice we insist we must have to kill them?  (Does that make me pro-choice?)

You're welcome to disagree of course, and I'm sure the majority of you will.  (Maybe even some of the other MAWB authors.  We haven't done a poll or anything, you see.) I'm fine with agreeing to disagree.  Are you? For the record, I do agree that jailing women for miscarriages is wrong too.

Considering how the left has recently taken to loving dictators, (see Castro), I'm sure you'll all be salivating at the impending world domination by the M.A.W.B. Squad.  Stop by often!

Wowsa!  A microchip.  Imagine that.  And that new battery powered Schick Quattro that's coming out?

I'm Not Dead Yet: I Think I'm Getting Better

I noticed on Friday evening that my left leg was giving me trouble.  Suddenly, it hurt to walk.  My current computer set-up is not ergonomic to say the least, and I have the habit of sitting with a leg up underneath me.  I figured I had wrenched my knee somehow, sitting in one position too long.

I went with that theory until I took a shower on Saturday evening, when I noticed there was a large red spot to the right and above my knee.  Hmm.  That didn't seem like a knee injury.  What could it be?

I did what any net savvy person does in the 21st century.  That's right.  I went to WebMD and looked up my symptons so I would at least know how I was going to die.  I settled on Deep Vein Thrombosis, which is basically a blood clot in your leg, which breaks loose and can kill when it gets to your lungs.  All the signs were there: swelling, pain, redness, warmth.

Science to the rescue:

Curvy women are more likely to live longer than their slimmer counterparts, researchers have found.                   

Institute of Preventative Medicine in Copenhagen researchers found those with wider hips also appeared to be protected against heart conditions.

Women with a hip measurement smaller than 40 inches, or a size 14 would not have this protection, they said.                   

The researchers say hip fat contains a beneficial natural anti-inflammatory.                   

Narrow hips 'detrimental'                    

They said this anti-inflammatory, called adiponectin,  prevents arteries swelling up and becoming blocked.

Yesterday couch potatoes were endorsed.  Now hips are good for you.  What could be next?  Ice cream provides necessary vitamins?  Read the whole thing.

Check Out Those Breasts!

I bet that got your attention.

Talk show host Laura Ingraham, who recently announced her engagement, was diagnosed with breast cancer on Friday.

Laura's breast cancer was picked up during a simple breast examination by her OB/GYN. The tumor was not even visible on a mammogram! You MUST make sure that you, and every woman in your life does a monthly breast self-examination. Learn to do it correctly, slowly, carefully. If you feel ANYTHING that seems strange or unusual, go immediately to your OB/GYN. Make sure that you and/or the women you know go for an annual gynecological appointment for a comprehensive check up. Laura is embarrassed to admit she had not been to her doc in more than three years. Really stupid (her words, not ours). Don't be afraid to ask your friend, girlfriend, sister, mother, or wife if she has done everything to detect breast cancer. We all need someone to remind us, get on us, demand that we take care of ourselves.

I was on the road this morning so I heard her call into the show.  They were waving her into surgery.  Also, on the way home, I was flipping through the dial and caught Hannity saying she was going to be calling his show with a post surgery update, so I guess it went O.K.
