I need an etiquette ruling on the following:
You initiate a conversation with a guy, and you eventually ask the question, "So, where's home for you?" He answers, "Are you familiar with BumbleBee Acres? It's a half-way house. I've lived there for eleven years."
Is it appropriate to then inquire why he has lived at a half-way house for that length of time?
Just wondering.
Shalom St. Kate,
Sounds to me like the guy's going for full disclosure, so I'd feel comfortable using that as an opening to inquire more.
B'shalom,
Jeff

You can bet I'd be asking. Eleven years? I would think he'd have to be running the place.

Run away. Don't walk, run.

Heh, he brought up the fact that he's been living there for 11 years. If he didn't feel comfortable about that he shouldn't have volunteered it.

I'll bet he is a psychologist there or something.
