Kurt over at Jockularocracy is having Deep Thoughts, including this one:
Do they have “Polka The Vote” in Wisconsin? If I lived there I’d have a bumper sticker that reads, “Don’t blame me, I voted for Mayor McCheese.” I think they eat a lot of cheese in Wisconsin.
We do eat a lot of cheese, but we only let people wear those silly cheese heads on TV to discourage the rest of you from moving here and ruining the place. The other cheese rule is you have to buy your cheese at a special cheese store, minimum visit required is annual, hopefully to ship some of it to out of state relatives, who are not so blessed with curdled milk products.
DC
for those readers who aren't from Wisconsin and think DC is kidding, think again.. this is absolutely true.. atho it's not technically a 'rule'.. it's more of a code of conduct.. cheese shops in Wisconsin are more common than Waffle Houses are south of the Mason-Dixon Line.. and Cheese Hats aren't really worn by natives.. we sell them to tourists or give them as gifts to in-laws who live out of state

See, now you're making me homesick.
Good thing I was back in GB last weekend (and, true to stereotype, picked up some Merkts; although it's not real cheese, it's better than any spread I can get here, and I likes my cheese'n'crackers).
